My work switched from HP postscript network printers to non-postscript RICOH Aficio 3260C RPCS printers (cheaper that way?). I've tried the Ricoh site, but they don't appear to have a non-postscript driver for Macs, Unix, or Linux - at least not that I've found. No one I talked to there could tell me when or even if there would ever be a Mac version of their non-postscript driver available.

Currently, I'm getting by with an HP Laserjet 4 driver (the non-postscript one from Gutenprint). It works, but lacks all the nifty features that the Ricoh can do, and it's slow as molasses. I'd like to be able to print both sides and in color without going into Windows and printing from there if I can.

Does anyone know of another non-postscript driver that might do a quicker and better job than the HP Laserjet 4 driver? The name of the PD language that Ricoh is using is apparently somesthing called RPCS.

Try the pxlmono driver available at
<http://www.linux-foundation.org/en/OpenPrinting/MacOSX/pxlmono>
That still may not get you duplexing due to an error in foomatic-rip. See <http://forums.freestandards.org/read.php?34,1386>.
For further support, I would suggest the forum at <http://forums.freestandards.org/list.php?30>. There is support from a couple of Ricoh employees there.

Matt

Works fine, with the already noted exception of duplex printing. At least I've got color and speed.

Thanks.
