I am setting up an older beige G3 for a friend on the net running 8.5 (or maybe 9.2) what version and where can I find it to download of MS Internet explorer? Or is there a better browser than IE that works with 8.5? Like Icab or Firefox. It’s been awhile since I used a system that old and if I remember it was not easy to fin IE old versions.

I think I was using Wamcom back when I was running OS 8 and 9.

I'd try iCab: <http://www.icab.de/dl.php>

You may find some options listed here

Personally I'd try iCab, but don't expect a great experience with today's WWW under OS 8 - 9.

BTW - I'd use OS 8.6 in preference to 8.5 which was somewhat buggy IME. 8.6 OTOH is my favourite of all reasonably modern classic MacOS's.

Yes, very good on the older machines.

It's their version of the last Netscape/Mozilla that would run under OS9 with some minor bug fixes.

iCab is still available but slow now unless you revert back to ver 2.99. It also will not handle a lot of CSS and JS stuff at all.
