 |
|
Hi all, I have one of those cheapo "Pure Digital" usb cams; to transfer the resulting AVI's to my iBook I just drag them into my movie folder, and when I click on them QuickTime plays them back, only the video skips, or freezes momentarily so to speak, like every other second or so. The soundtrack is normal and continuous. When I import the AVI's into iMovie, they play fine. Why is QT doing this with my AVI's?
Thanks for any ideas,
Rog |

I think I just figured it out: my processor (G4) is hitting 100% during playback. I guess the iMovie format is more efficient. Any way to free up more processor for AVI playback?
Thanks again,

Exactly.
AVI files are huge with no better resolution. I avoid them at all costs. |

I see; thanks for the info. Strange tho, after a recent restart my processor was able to handle them, peaking in the 90% range during playback. Not sure what was sucking up the power before, but I usually have a lot of apps up.
