 |
|
Now that macs are intel based, is there an way that you could just get a PC instead of a mac, erase the hard drive, put on OSX and boot camp and dual boot that way, so that your PC could become a Mac, rather than your mac becoming a PC...or is that a technically ridiculous suggestion? (I am technically illiterate, as you may have guessed).
Thanks,

Other than the "because it is there" mentality of the geeks, my guess would be some thought it might be a good idea to shoehorn OSX into a $800 Dell or HP box. |

Or, maybe he switched from Windows to Mac and wants to put his PC hardware to use running something other than Windows or Linux. I have 7 Macs after switching 3 years ago. I have one PC that is still pretty darn fast. It would be nice to put OS X on that one as well just because I refuse to run Windows and I am more familiar with OS X than with Linux. I have Linux on it now, but it would just be nice if OS X was on it. So, my point, is that the reason *some* people want OS X on PCs is so they can re-use that hardware. It's perfectly good hardware - yes, it's ugly, but it works. Besides, I stare at the screen not the ugly PC hardware casing. |

I may have to get a call from the head ref in the press box, but to my mind this qualifies under the geek exception (grin). |
