Here's the setup....
My Significant Other and I each have an ink-jet printer, hers is a Canon Pixma MP600 and mine is an Epson Stylus Photo R380. Both printers are shared so that each of us can print on the other's printer if so desired.
Here's the problem....
I have created an InDesign CS3 document and have exported it as a .pdf document. The document has 1/4 inch borders on all four sides. If I open the document with Adobe Reader 8.0 and print the document on my printer all is well and if I print the document on her printer all is well. But if the .pdf is ported to her computer, opened with Adobe Reader 8.0 and then printed the left-hand side of the document is trimmed by about an eighth of an inch. As much as we can tell the selections in the Print dialog are the same for both of us.
So the mystery is what is the cause of the difference in the results of printing the .pdf from Adobe Reader that is computer specific? |

I should have added that we are both running OS X 10.4.10. I'm on a MacBook Pro and she is on a PowerBook.

What about the Page Setup options? Maybe hers is set for a different page size with a slightly smaller printable area. |

The page size options, as are all of the options in the Print panel, are identical. Last night I was at a gathering of Mac fanatics and it was suggested that the problem could be that my Significant Other installed the driver that came with the Canon printer while I am running on the "generic" driver included with Mac OS X. Today I'll try, as suggested last night, removing the Canon software to see what happens. I'll report back with the results of that try. |

One thing that bit me was Bleed and Slug offsets and crop marks. There are settings for bleed, but there is also an offset for ?crop marks past bleed?. These gave me fits once I went to PDFs ..
Also, the unclear obvious. Are both printer drivers up-to-date?
Good luck |
