 |
|
I reinstalled the OS 9 drivers (the user uses this Mac primarily for a Classic app, so boots into OS 9 only) downloaded from HP.com, but the printer won't show up in Chooser. As instructed in the setup instructions that come with the HP LJ Printer Utility, once the driver was installed and the computer rebooted, I used the Apple Desktop Printer Utility to create a desktop printer. That seems to have worked (icon shows up on the desktop).
But I can't seem to get this printer to print via USB.
USB port is working.
What am I missing? Some suggestions?
G4 Mac "Quicksliver"; OS 9.2

Having done only OS X for the past few years, forgive the naive question: What other options are there for printing? How does one achieve printing other than desktop printing?
Thanks, |

Make sure the printer is connected and powered on. Check settings under Page Setup, then select File->Print. Go through the various settings till all looks right for your print job, click OK, and you'll be printing a document.
You don't even have to use the Chooser on the Mac you described. If all the HP driver sw is in place (showing active in Extensions Manager, or in Conflict Catcher if you use it), as well as PrintMonitor, and AppleTalk is set to Inactive in the AppleTalk cp, then all should be well.
Any further problems, feel free to post or e-mail. I'll help if I can.
Good luck,
Eric
